Continuing my series of street art from unexpected parts of the world, I found plenty of street art across Iran, particularly in Tehran and Eghlid.
Tehran was full of street art, part of a city initiative that provides free scaffolding for local artists to paint what they want across the side of many city blocks.
Though most of the artwork was to honour martyrs who died in the horrific Iran-Iraq War and more recently in the conflict in Syria.
Shiraz had surprisingly little street art, but a couple caught my eye while exploring.
Eghlid is a small town that punched above its size in the quantity and variety of it’s street art.
Esfahan didn’t have much street art but did have some great sculptures.
Other cities, whether due to their conservative nature, or UNESCO controls, had seemingly none, including Kashan and Yazd.
