North of Poole and Bournemouth, Wimborne may not look like much on the map but is well worth a half day to explore it’s well preserved heritage.
The highlight of which is the mighty Wimborne Minster Church, an impressive church dating back in part to Saxon times, but mostly Norman times.
Close by is the Wimborne Model Village, a better than average example of it’s kind, with intricate shop window displays in miniature making for great kids quizzes to keep them occupied. It also has a rather busy but popular model railway.
The town itself has a number of well preserved buildings in the centre, now mainly shops.
