A big Dili hike climbing nearly 700m over 10km, heading one ridge and returning down another.
I started by Lisbutak Chapel in Manleuana, as the sun hit the hills and quarries across the Comoro River. It is immediately steep, heading up to Manleuana Cemetery.

From here a series of white crosses representing the Stations of the Cross line the hillside.

The route continues relentlessly uphill, though the path is reasonably clear and straightforward to walk on.

There were decent views of the city below.

Eventually I reached the top of the ridge, finding an unexpected small cemetery.

There was also a seemingly very remote school given how few houses I passed by.

There was a short section of dirt road walking which was a welcome break from climbing up, and rest before the long descent to come.

This started quite steep but then eased off to an enjoyably smooth and hugely scenic hike down the neighbouring ridge.

It got increasingly urban as I got closer to the city, to finish about 2km from where I started.
