New Zealand is home to some wonderful public art, here are my favourites places…
Palmerston North
Not somewhere that might immediately spring to mind but there is an impressive amount of public art in Palmy, mainly around The Square.
New Plymouth
Len Lye’s Wind Wand is an iconic sight on the New Plymouth waterfront.
Wellington
The waterfront from the CBD round to the airport is home to some great pieces of public art, including a somewhat random Easter Island stature replica.
Nelson
Quality over quantity, with some nice pieces near the sea and river.
Tokoroa
Not really worth visiting unless you work in the timber industry or are travelling by long distance bus, but there are some impressive wood carvings.
Auckland
Home to shockingly little, other than a few pieces around the CBD and Newmarket which I don’t even have photos of.
