Mount Macedon and Hanging Rock

Only an hour north from Melbourne, Mount Macedon is a beautifully leafy and hilly area, popular with cyclists and walkers, and somewhere to enjoy views, gardens and relative cool on a hot summer day. Sanatorium Lake is a lovely spot for a picnic, with near perfect reflections.

The Memorial Cross is impressive in itself, and for the views out toward Melbourne in the distance.

Forest Glade Gardens are a gem, 17 acres of lush greenery.

Just up the road Hanging Rock is a typically Australian rock formation, perfect for scrambling around and getting lost in, and enjoying the views and koala spotting.

Back in Bendigo I found more reflections in Bendigo Regional Park on an early evening run, the worst time to do so as it is the hottest time of the day, even with a little shade 32C is too hot to run far in…

Final few from Castlemaine, on the drive between Bendigo and Mount Macedon, the viaduct seen from the botanic gardens, the old Gaol, and a lovely church.
