Lake Marian

Lake Marian is a scenic alpine lake in a hanging valley formed by glaciers, reached by a 4.8km three hour return walk from the start of the Hollyford Road, just off the Milford Road.

Soon after starting the walk there are some impressive falls / rapids before the track starts to really ascend, with a gain of 400m.

I walked the track at the start of June, after recent snowfall, making it slippery under foot but also quite wonderfully beautiful with the sun hitting ice crystals.

The lake itself was quite rather beautiful and serene.
