A castle of art perched on the slopes of Brentwood, the Getty Center is understandably one of the top destinations in Los Angeles, with interesting architecture, lovely gardens, and an impressive collection of paintings, photographs, Egyptian artefacts, fashion and furniture.
Adding to the experience is a small train that takes you from the car park, public transport or ride share up the hill to these sculpture enhanced steps and curving entrance building.
The architecture throughout is filled with unusual shapes and reflective white walls.
The first gallery I went in was home to an impressive collection of Egyptian artefacts.
There are many terraces offering views out across the city.
My favourite was this cacti covered castle wall like terrace, with downtown Los Angeles in the distance.
The Getty is home to a huge collection of artwork from the 1300s to the late 1800s, with the Impressionists being my favourite pieces in the museum.
There was also an interesting show on the development of fashion in the twentieth century.
To end with the rather lovely gardens.
