One of the largest corporate art collection in New Zealand, the Fletcher Trust collection was established by Fletcher Building in the early 1980s. Thankfully as a separately managed trust it has avoided the ups and downs of its founder company, and continues to invest in new work (through selling older work) to retain relevance.

There is no permanent display of the collection but pieces are loaned to galleries throughout the country. The largest number are in the offices of Fletcher Building, though fewer since they moved to open plan offices in the past five years. As I’ve worked there I’ve been privileged to enjoy the works on a daily basis.

I particularly enjoyed when works were displayed in the now closed tunnel that ran underneath Great South Road, linking Fletcher House with other offices across the road.

Stunning!
