A relatively short but super scenic hike up into the hills above Dare, a small village looking out over Dili below. It was an enjoyable loop from Dare’s Catholic Church, close to the excellent Dare Cafe and War Memorial, which was the ideal place to eat and recover after the hike.

From the church it was basically straight up! Though some breaks in the bush offered views.

Dili was atmospheric below with early morning mist.

The bush is pretty thick, and easy to get lost in if you don’t go with someone who knows the way, or have a clearly marked route on your map.

The bush thinned to beautiful eucalyptus trees.

The views from the summit were pretty spectacular, with beautiful (if hot!) sunshine lighting up the landscape.

Even up here there were still a number of houses scattered across the hillside.

Coming down there were some impressive clay evacuations, presumably for water storage.

As demonstrated later with this pool.

More beautiful views on the return downhill.

Before stopping at Dare Cafe and War Memorial, which has an incredible view and tasty pizzas, and then returning full circle to Dare’s Catholic Church.
