Blackwood & Sturt Gorge Reserves Reservoir Loop

My final walk in Adelaide took me back to Blackwood and Sturt Gorge Reserves, but heading south to one of the reservoirs, rather than the route I previously took along the river.

From suburban streets I headed through Ossie Goldsworthy Reserve, which is primarily home to a playground and picnic area.

I then entered Blackwood Reserve along the route I walked a week earlier.

Before heading south as the sun started to make its way through the bush.

There was some wonderful birdlife.

I followed a dirt road down toward the reservoir.

Which offered good reflections.

Before returning up the hill and along mountain bike trails.

The landscape at the end of a dry summer was clearly parched.

I followed the train line for longer than planned as the railway crossing on my phone map didn’t actually exist…

I took a quick look around very pleasant Wittunga Botanic Garden.

Before a final stretch of suburb walking and waiting at the railway crossing for a lengthy freight train to pass.
