A beautiful part of the Bay of Plenty, Pukehina is about 45 minutes drive east of Tauranga, and home to a seemingly endless beach, and of more interest to me, a lovely estuary.
I walked along it as far as is possible at low tide, starting from Ororoa Reserve, enjoying the near perfect stillness.
As I headed up the estuary the wind picked up a little but it was still quite stunning.
There is one section only accessible within 1-2 hours of low tide unless you’re wearing gum boots and like wading…
It was super peaceful and scenic.
This house was an unexpected sight.
More lovely views.
I followed a bank by a presumably manmade channel, given that it was absolutely straight.
There were some great views.
In the distance was the mouth of the estuary.
More channel views walking back the way I came.
A few views of Pukehina Beach.
To finish with views across the estuary at sunset.
