Understandably one of the most photographed lakes in New Zealand, Lake Hayes is a beautiful place close to Arrowtown, 25 mins drive from Queenstown.

An 8km track runs around the edge of the lake, and there are a number of easy to access viewpoints from the main road.

It is best visited on a still day for wonderful reflections.

I visited during winter, but have been during the summer and found it an excellent place to go for a swim.

Couple more photos of this lovely spot.

I returned a few days later to more incredible views, with the added bonus of clouds in the reflections.
