One of the most scenic sections of the Norfolk Coast Path runs through Blakeney National Nature Reserve, a vast area of marshes and winding watercourses.

On a sunny day at the end of July, Blakeney was a popular place, with kids splashing in the shallow River Glaven at low tide, while older visitors relaxed, reading the newspaper in the riverside car park.

There are easy paths through the nature reserve.

There were lovely flowers and colour everywhere.

These are very English views, relatively low-key but beautiful.

There were a couple of abandoned boats in the marshes.

In the distance were a large number of offshore wind turbines.

I returned to take a quick look at Blakeney Guildhall, an English Heritage–managed remnant of the 15th-century house of a prosperous merchant.
