A beautiful cruise along the East Alligator River in Kakadu National Park, by a 100% Aboriginal owned & operated company. The Guluyambi Cultural Cruise was one of a number of highlights of our time in the park, varied and peaceful.
Starting close to Cahills Crossing, the name (or misname as they’re crocodiles, not alligators) of the river was obvious!

I felt a little safer in the boat than the numerous people who ignored the safety barriers at Cahills Crossing to get closer to the water…

I’d never seen so many crocodiles in one place before, or of such size.

Cahills Crossing is one of the few routes into Arnhem Land, but only accessible at low tide, and a 4WD is probably a good idea.

Heading up the river there were fewer crocodiles, but beautiful scenery and a pair of sea eagles.

I love this landscape, the combination of rocks and plant life.

We were able to briefly disembark the boat to walk on Arnhem Land, and our excellent local guide demonstrated traditional spear throwing.

This was pretty amazing, sea shells from when the ocean was in this area and the land has been uplifted.

To finish with some impressive rock art in Arnhem Land seen from the water.
