Enjoy shade and stream exploring on this relatively easy 4.7km walk from Balibar, on the road to Aileu. Half the walk is through attractive bush, before descending to a stream. Follow this as far as you can and return the same way. Even at the end of the dry season you’re guaranteed to get wet shoes, and it can be slippery underfoot, so take care.

I started by what would be a pond in the wet season, but at the end of the dry season was just cracked mud, and walked past the wonderful St. John Paul II Church in Balibar.

It didn’t take long to leave the main road behind and enjoy the peace and quiet (and pineapples!) of the bush.

A reasonably steep (and would be slippery in the wet season) descent took me down to an attractive stream.

Half the walk is basically heading along this as far as you can and then returning the same way.

This seemed like a good point to turnaround!

Few shots from the way back.

Toward the end I took a short detour via Balibar Cemetery and this small shrine.
