About 25km west of Uluru lies the magnificent many heads of Kata Tjuta, an equally massive but very different rock formation. From a distance at sunrise they appear smooth but are quite different up close.
The Valley of the Winds is the main walk possible, though it is closed when temperatures reach over 36C, so plan accordingly. Even early morning on a spring day it was pretty roasting for the last two thirds of the walk with little shade. It was worth it for some impressive sights though and some lovely flowers, not exactly what you expect in the middle of the red heart of Australia!
