A popular day trip from Cairns, though I somehow managed to find time at the end of a long day visiting the Daintree National Park and Port Douglas.

Getting there involves heading up a particularly twisty road from Cairns, with the Henry Ross Lookout part way up providing views of the landscape out to the sea.

The main attraction is Baron Falls, which were way more spectacular than I was expecting, less for the falls themselves (though I did visit toward the end of the dry season), than for their dramatic setting.

Amazingly by the lookout area is the Barron Falls Train Station, one of the more amazing location for a station I’ve come across.

Just up the road is Wrights Lookout, offering more mountain landscape views.

Jumrum Creek Conservation Park offered more rainforest. I’d seen rather a lot by now but it was still a pleasure to wander through.
