In the Domain, one of the largest parks in Central Auckland, the Wintergardens are always a pleasure to visit. Filled with life and warmth, they’re a great place to escape to on a rainy day, and a sunny day really brings out the colours.
The Wintergardens comprise two greenhouses, one unheated Temperate House (opened 1921), and one Tropical House warmed to ~28C (opened 1928), with a connecting space with a tranquil shallow pool. The plants in the Temperate House in particular are frequently changed depending on what’s in flower each season.
