A beautiful and varied 13km hike, with superb views and interesting chapels, shrines and Uma Lulik. Starting from the top of Becora Hill (between Dili and Hera) the views are already stunning, and they only improve as you climb. About a half the hike is on 4WD dirt road, and the other half on interesting trails around the hillside.
The road over Becora Hill is sealed, the roads that lead from it aren’t! They’re rough and steep, so I parked up my motorbike just past Bihare and started walking.

I took the drone up for some panoramic shots.

The light at 7am was lovely, and there was plenty of interest.

Capela JPII Buburlau is another well situated chapel with a view, plus a statue of Saint John Paul II welcoming people with outstretched arms.

The views from the chapel were great.

This Uma Lulik also came with a view.

About half of the hike is along roads like this, though rarely with much shade, but the views make up for this.

Gruta Nossa Senhora Peregrina Bairro Caisabe was an impressive shrine to the Virgin Mary.

Close to another well located church, Igreja Evangélica Presbiteriana Nazareno Kaisabe (IEPTL).

Soon after this the hiking got a lot more interesting along increasingly narrow paths.

Which took me through beautiful woods with big views.

To reach the hamlet of Darlau, home to Uma Lulik on the hilltop.

This walk combined two routes developed by Dili Saturday Walkers, which have about 60% overlap, so I ended up repeating a few sections, but got a few different views on the way back.
